Another perfect Saint Laurent collection which in the words of Vogue contributer Mark Holgate, conjured up, “Yves Saint Laurent himself, or more specifically, his personal style, right down to his weighty eyeglasses. It made for a truly exceptional collection, strong and compelling from beginning to end. Vaccarello showcased impeccable mannish tailoring in anthracite or black or plum of a distinctly Yves persuasion, with double breasted jackets and wide pants which were soft but so expertly cut they came without a hint of sloppy slouchiness.”
Chunky gold earrings and bangles, luxurious plunging silk necklines framed with ropes of weighty beaded necklaces (a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent’s dear friend and collaborator Loulou de la Falaise), supple leather jackets, and brazen fuchsias, citrus oranges, chartreuses, daffodil yellows and ocean blues all combined into what felt like an homage to all the great, unabashed women in Yves’s orbit and and true feast for the eyes.
